Arrábida Meetings

Arrábida Meetings

Every year in May the former Monastery of Arrábida hosts the Arrábida Meetings, a forum for reflection on political and strategic issues that has attracted many of the world’s leading figures since launched in 1994. The permanent council, which has over the years deliberated over the selection of the most critical themes within the global context, was presided over by Lord Carrington until 2008 before his retirement and replacement by Lord Chris Patten. Also sitting on this council are: Carlos Monjardino, José Cutileiro, Uffe Elleman-Jensen, Yegor Gaidar, Otto Graf Lambsdorf, Marcílio Moreira, Jaime Gama and Vikram Sing Mehta, among others.
