BEST STUDENTS OF PORTUGUESE IN GOA 2019-2020 AWARDS

For more than two decades, Fundação Oriente has been supporting the majority of schools that teach Portuguese as a Foreign Language in Goa. Currently, this support is granted to 21 educational institutions in the South and North of Goa where this support reaches 17 teacher and almost 900 students.

With the aim of encouraging Goan students to further their language studies, the Fundação Oriente Delegation in India has been organizing, since 1997, the Prize Distribution Ceremony to the Best students of Portuguese in Secondary and Higher Secondary education in Goa. These awards are the direct result of the marks obtained in the final exams of the Goa Board of Education.

This year the ceremony took place on the 5th of December in the Delegation's Garden. After a welcome note delivered by the Director of the Fundação Oriente Delegation in India, Professor Loraine Alberto from the Department of Lusophone Studies at the University of Goa shared some words of encouragement to parents and students.

The ceremony continued with the distribution of prizes to Secondary Section students (10th Standard): The 1st prize was granted to Amanda Gonsalves Rodrigues and Diogo Francisco da Piedade Costa (Rosary High School, Bambolim). The 2nd prize was awarded to Rachel Gemma Zinnia D'Aquino Henriques (St. Theresa's High School, Vasco da Gama). The 3rd prize was granted to Eleonora Fernandes (Chubby Cheeks Spring Valley High School, Povorim), Eric Carlos Faleiro (Loyola High School, Margão), Tricia da Costa (Presentation Convent High School, Margão) and Bianca Steffi Fernandes (Fátima Convent High School, Margão).

Followed by the announcement of the prizes to the best students in the higher secondary section (12th Standard): The 1st prize was awarded to Walden Fernandes (Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim), Marie Nyusya Adriana da Cunha (Carmel Higher Secondary School, Cloud) and Aaron Jude Armando Bragança (Vasatrao Dempo Higher Secondary School of Arts, Science & Commerce, Panjim). The 2nd prize was granded to Lizzen Camelo (Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim) and Edric Agnelo André Quadros (Loyola Higher Secondary School of Arts and Sciences, Margão). The 3rd prize was given to Niyati Sripad Madkaiker (People's Higher Secondary School, Panjim).
